The city of Portland, Oregon has
perhaps been the hardest hit by the state’s decision to legalize
video poker. In 1992, ten thousand illegally operated machines were
banned and replaced by government owned and operated video lottery
machines and player’s winnings became subject to state income
tax. |
|
While state officials seem to advocate responsible
gambling, every video machine in the state is located either in
casinos or establishments where alcohol is served.
1% of the state’s projected $1 Billion in lottery sales is
now allocated to what has become the largest gambling addiction
treatment center in the country.
|

|
While women and teens seem
to be the most vulnerable, the lure of these machines is too much
for most Oregon citizens to resist and countless lives are being
ruined. |
If you or someone
you know in the Portland area has been dramatically effected by gambling,
and are willing to be interviewed on camera, please contact us right

About
the filmmaker:
Dawn
Fields: Producer/Director/Editor |
Glass Mountain
Entertainment was founded by producer Dawn Fields in July of 2004.
Before creating Glass Mountain, Ms. Fields worked in development
and acquisitions for a medium sized production/distribution company
in Los Angeles where she has lived for almost five years. Originally
from Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Fields began her career as a production
assistant working on large budget feature films that were shooting
in the southeast in the early 1990's. From there she moved up to
Assistant Director and Production Mangager on short-form projects
ranging from high profile commercials to music videos, shorts and
independent features. Bitten by the creative bug, Ms. Fields then
went on to write, produce and direct her own projects including
a dramatic short and an award-winning music video for Gospel R&B
artist Vickie Winans. After producing a regional commercial spot
for the Georgia Lottery, self-publishing a trade magazine for the
Atlanta film communtiy, and teaching seminars to beginning filmmakers,
Ms. Fields decided to make the move to Los Angeles in year 2000.
She is now concentrating exclusively on feature films and documentaries
and currently has several projects in development.
